Ty B. Erickson, MD (born August 15, 1956) is an American surgeon/physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology and urogynecology, focusing on pelvic floor reconstruction.
Personal Life
[edit]Ty Erickson was born on August 15, 1956 in Utah but grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. He and his wife have five children, 3 girls and 2 boys.
Education
[edit]Dr. Erickson attended undergraduate school at Brigham Young University[1] in Provo, Utah earning a Bachelor of Science in zoology May of 1979 cum laude. He went on to medical school at the University of Nevada School of Medicine[2] in Reno, Nevada and earned his Doctorate of Medicine in June 1983. From June 1983 until June 1987 Dr. Erickson did his residency at the University of Colorado, Health Sciences Center[3] where he specialized in obstetrics and gynecology.
During his years of schooling, he was a part of several honorary societies including Phi Lambda Alpha Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Alpha Omega Alpha where he was a part of the chapter formation committee at the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
Career
[edit]After finishing his residency, Dr. Erickson began practicing at Denver Women's Clinic in Denver, Colorado. Then from June 1989 to November 1994 he practiced at Westside Women's Care in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Later he moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where he practiced obstetrics and gynecology at Women's Health Associates and continues to do so today.
Dr. Erickson has been board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology since December, 1989, licensed with the Idaho Board of Medical Examiners[4] since 1994 and has had a Utah Medical License[5] since 2008.
Academic appointments
[edit]Dr. Erickson sat as vice-chairman on the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Lutheran Medical Center from 1992 until 1994. He was a clinical instructor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado, Health Science Center from 1987 until 1994, and has been an Affiliate Faculty at the Idaho State University since 2002.
