About Lisa Rosenmeier's work

Originally, Lisa Rosenmeier studied painting at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, but she shifted her focus to media such as video, photography, print, and more technical objects and their interaction in the exhibition context, in short, hybrid artwork.

Over the past decades she has focused on exploring the potential of photography within the digital files that the images stem from. She often works with prints, where she compresses the images into a single work or unfolds series of inter-spatial pieces.

They are often presented with a title/text that holds valuable meaning in relation to the content of the work, and in larger exhibition contexts, the works engage in interplay with each other, creating a transformative experience for the viewers, as they experience their journey through the exhibition. The fleeting and changeable often appear as key elements in the photographically based prints, as sequences, or in the overall progression of the exhibition.

Lisa Rosenmeier's works are printed on various materials, including metal, paper, textile, mirror, and glass. The photography is simply a digital file or a thin 2-dimensional membrane that can be placed on the surface of an object.

The primary artistic focus is on psychological phenomens, with a particular focus on the existential aspects of it, and this is implemented in various ways in the visual exploration. For example, in the series "Blind Spots" (the name of a phenomenon where something exists that one cannot see unless we change our perspective by moving), Blind Spots consists as layers of printed negative colored light spots on mirrors. Other sub-works/objects often play a role in the interaction within an exhibition. For instance, in "Our Mantric Radius", which is an object where the audience are encouraged to let their mind flow be recorded via headsets and converted into light and color patterns in a 3-dimensional light object. In this object, the participant's inner mind flow is visualized, merging as intersecting light patterns in the object between them.

However, the overall installation visually works with light, backlight, and images of people with lanterns in the night.

Currently, the solo exhibition "Blue Light / Blaues Licht / Blålys" that was presented at Kunstnerhouse Bethanien in Berlin summer 2023, is transforming into a larger solo exhibition at the Danish Cultural Center in Beijing in spring 2025.
