The articles I've created are focused on pre-World War II period in the Philippines and only very few are contemporary subject matters. There's been a dearth of historical records prior to this period which is sadly a situation that applies to the rest of the archipelago, followed by an explosion of print culture, popular education and increasing literacy. The first four decades of 20th century saw the rise of journalism and literature in Cebuano language, as did other regional languages in the Philippines, that marked the transition of the language of speech and records to an artistic medium harnessed for creative expression. It was also the period of rising nationalism where Filipinos (in general and Cebuanos in particular) gradually and actively participated in governance and independence, shaping in the process the country's political landscape.
