This is my wiki account. I've made edits on and off for many years as an unregistered user. I decided it was time to be an 'official' user.

Wiki Pet Peeves

I've found that many users are very quick to revert content. Even if the information was factual, relevent, and sourced. Most times they simply don't like the information or the argument for removing it is simply, "we've never included that type of information in the past". So now the question becomes, "how does Wiki evolve and improve if so many users are unwilling to try something different?"

Aside from that, I've observed newer editors basically get bullied by more experienced users with a lot of edits. When it comes to who gets their way on an article, the more experienced user usually just pulls in a few friends on here that he or she has made over time, and they're able to suppress the new editor. Not a good way to encourage new users from becoming active on wikipedia.

Have you ever attempted to edit, create a page, etc. and literally within seconds someone is tagging it or trying to revert your edit; before you get a chance to add a citation or sources? These shotgun editors that seem to simply want to pad their edit counts without taking the time to actually look at date and timestamps and allow someone to finish their edit before they remove it. Remember the saying, look before you leap.
