The Paulo and Nita Freire International Project for Critical Pedagogy, located within McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, promotes the study of the history and development of critical pedagogy while conducting research and fostering an international community of scholars, researchers, and educators. Together this virtual and personal network explores the interrelationships of power, justice, oppression, and empowerment as they shape educational policy and practice.
Known colloquially as The Freire Project, it is named after the founder of critical pedagogy Paulo Freire and his partner, Nita Freire, who has carried on his work since his death in 1997.
