I-Thou and I-It
[edit]In his book I and Thou, Buber developed a theory of human existence focused around the dialogical relationship between individuals and the world. This dualist conception of existence was symbolized for Buber in two word pairs: "I-It" (Ich-Es) and "I-Thou" (Ich-Du).
Potential ambiguity
[edit]The poetic and sometimes vague writing in books such as I and Thou present difficulty in systematizing Buber's philosophy (this may have been Buber's intention). This also complicates applying Buber's theories beyond
