About Me:

[edit]

Hello, thank you for visiting my page. My name is Valerie, and I am currently a College student in the Pacific Northwest. My hobbies include, cooking, eating, cleaning, gardening, and spending time with my dog. Gardening is a great way to reduce stress and eat healthier[1]. I enjoy exploring the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest and experiencing the cultural cuisines of the area. I am going to school to become a Dental Hygienist. When I was in High School I got braces and it changed my smile and boosted my self esteem. I am going into the dental field because I want to be able to give others the same life changing feeling that I had. Wikipedia is something that is new to me. When I was in grade school I was not allowed to use Wikipedia as a resource as it was deemed "unreliable because anyone can edit any of the articles and could provide false information", so working in Wikipedia feels weird to me and almost wrong. However, I am interested to learn more about Wikipedia.

My Wikipedia Activities:

[edit]

I am looking forward to being able to contribute to topics such as food, cleaning, and gardening. As I continue my Dental career I will be able to help contribute to pages related to the dental field as well.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

Growing up in small town Sandpoint, Idaho I would spend a lot of time at the Panida Theater on 1st Avenue. I thought I would be nostalgic for this evaluation and look up a place that I spent most of my summer nights. I visited the Panida Theater article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: completeness, citations, and voice.

Completeness:

[edit]

When I read this article I was surprised to see how little information there actually is on the theater. There is actually more information on the theaters' website than there is on the WIkipedia page. I would add to this article by talking about how many days out of the year it is open and how many people it can fit in the theater during a performance. The article in most parts reads verbatim to the website for the theater so I am surprised that there is information left out. The Wikipedia page was updated on the 11th of February 2021 which is when the current references were added. Another thing I noticed is that the second and third sentences say the same thing but are just worded slightly different.

Citations:

[edit]

There could be more citations done on this page. For example in the article it states "(including Gallagher on his final tour)". There might be many people who do not know who Gallagher is. A hyperlink to take the reader to the Wikipedia page Gallagher (comedian) would be nice to add. None of the citations that are included seem to be dead which is good.

Voice:

[edit]

The overall voice is very good. The page does is not biased, which I already would expect from a page about a building. The grammar correct as well. If someone wanted to really pick at it they could argue that in the article someone wrote "live theatre" instead of "live theater". Both forms are correct, but one form is mostly used in Britain while the other is most commonly used in America.

Summary:

[edit]

There is some information that could be added to the article and some extra hyperlinks for clarification, but overall the article is okay. I think the article could benefit from someone doing some more research to add both information and citations to the article.
