Community spirit can also be defined as pride within a community. Community spirit can be displayed in forms of customized community logo T-shirts, baseball caps, and/ or bumper stickers. Communities can also display spirit by supporting local charities and schools. [1] Community newspapers display spirit in articles relating to local volunteering, local charities, and announce a variety of community topics. For example, Miami Community Newspapers is a local publication in Miami-Dade_County,_Florida. [2] The community’s biweekly newspaper publishes a variation of columns, including articles on education,[3] fundraisers[4] and multiculturalism[5].

Community Spirit involves people within the same community which unite together to better their community by volunteering or acting on gestures of goodwill. Community Spirit can be describe as contributions from society to the meet the needs of their community. The needs of a community can be describe as the requirements in order to maintain a stable society.
According to Amitai Etzioni, community spirit is the unity among a society which uphold and share similar values and resources which maintain them.
Functionalism in sociology is the understanding that society can achieve and maintain a state of balance and social equilibrium when working together as a whole through a system of interconnected parts.
Community spirit requires the society as a whole to transmit social contributions, for example, volunteering services like removing debris of the streets effects the community as a whole.
How can community spirit improve

Community work contributes to the community as a whole with acts on benefit the public interest. [6] According to Random House Dictionary, public interest is "1. the welfare or well-being of the general public; commonwealth. 2. appeal or relevance to the general populace: a news story of public interest."[7]
