Early life and Education:
[edit]Dr. Neelam Gupta is a social sector entrepreneur, who founded the AROH Foundation NGO in the year 2001. She did her graduation from Miranda House, Delhi University, Masters in zoology from Delhi University, and her doctorate in philosophy from Corlins University.
Career:
[edit]Dr. Neelam Gupta a recipient of a Doctorate of Philosophy in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Delhi started her career as a partner in a commercial venture Cyber art- a document designing and offset printing venture for turnkey jobs. She designed and developed publication materials for renowned national and international magazines. The exposure gave her an immense opportunity to be an active member of various professional bodies. From 1992- to 2010 she was at the helm of the commercial venture Cyber art’. Her inclination toward giving back to society made her realize to divert her thoughts into starting up a social organization and working for the marginalized society.
After a successful tenure as an entrepreneur, she established AROH Foundation to realize her childhood dream of creating a positive change in society. The seed of thought took the shape of ‘The AROH Foundation’. The Foundation which started as a research-based organization diversified into a multi-sectoral organization.
Awards and recognition:
[edit]: The perseverance of Dr. Neelam Gupta has resulted in the recognition of the work of AROH Foundation nationally as well as internationally and the important milestone includes – the Mahatma Gandhi Award by Live week group in New York, Best CSR Professional Award in Livelihood, Best Community Award for Global Sustainability, Best NGO Award for Community Development, Asia Pacific International Award, CSR Leader of the Year Award, etc.
Social and humanitarian work:
[edit]Under Dr. Neelam Gupta’s strong leadership and mentoring, AROH Foundation has provided skill development training to more than 25,000 poor and unemployed youth, empowered more than 22,000 women through skill development training, and enrolled more than 10,000 out-of-school children in formal schools, benefited more than 50,000 through improvement work in 500 schools, facilitated more than 50,000 farmers towards better income and has touched more than 10 lakh people by far. Her efforts in the area of Women Empowerment, Girl Education, and Gender Mainstreaming have enabled the organization to create and sustain flagship Social Development Projects such as – Padho Aur Badho, Parivartna, Harit, Garima, Udaan, and Utkarsh, and these projects have been recognized by the Government agencies and model projects. AROH has ventured into the remotest location of Bihar & Uttar Pradesh to Red corridors, Naxal affected tribal villages of Chhattisgarh to the toughest terrains of Meghalaya and spreading the Ray of Hope.
