The Imaginary Foundation

The Imaginary Foundation was founded in Switzerland as a think tank conducting experimental research on innovative, creative thinking by using the power of imagination. The Foundation believes a human’s imagination has an infinite potential. The director of Imaginary Foundation and his team, chose to remain anonymous, avoiding contact with publicity for unknown reasons. An art team located in San Francisco translates the Director’s ideas and concepts into art. The Imaginary Foundation later became a brand, selling a variety of apparel as a means of expressing their concepts through pop culture art, now sold in multiple stores including Zumiez and PacSun.

History

Director

The director of Imaginary Foundation is also its creator, is believed to be around seventy years old. Because the director chose to be unnamed, most of his whereabouts are still unknown. The Foundation grew in size when individuals from various artistic backgrounds got together in order to create new experiments and innovations .The head of this small secret underground organization, is an inspired philosopher and the son of one of the founding members of the Dadiast movement. Jean-Paul Sartre, a French philosopher, helped inspire the director one day after having coffee with him in the late 1960’s.

These were the words that inspired the director to open up Imaginary Foundation later on in 1973. “In his vision for the Imaginary Foundation, the Director knew that the human mind has more than one mode, that indeed it has an "ecology" of being”.

Dada Movement

The Dada movement was created in 1960 in Switzerland which arose as a reaction to World War 1. It was an artistic literary movement that was expressed though poetry, photography, painting etc. Created by poets and artists such as Tristan Tzara and Hugo Ball, started to connect with like-minded individuals during the deaths and propaganda of war. This helped guide, the now current director of The Imaginary Foundation, start his own group.

Jason Silva

Jason Silva is a futuristic philosopher and public speaker born in Caracas, Venezuela. He has been an advocate of The Imaginary Foundation and has done numerous speeches about the power of imagination on his YouTube channel, “Shot of Awe”. He has appeared many times on talk shows wearing The Imaginary Foundation apparel promoting their perspectives in connection with his own topics of discussion.

Concepts of the Imaginary Foundation

The designs and concept created by Imaginary Foundation are inspired by scientific theories and current philosophical views. The goal is to provoke a higher levels of imagination in futuristic construct. Mathematical models are translated into space-age art for viewers to grasp these ideas in pop culture art from. Each art work can be found with a description explaining the various ideas converted. Theories ranging from Einstein’s general relativity to the Multiverse theory, try to merge science and art into “wonder”. Wonder being the root of this new age blend of science and art illustrated by this Foundation. New concepts and art are continuously being created in connection to current findings in the field of science.
