Locks are 35'x144' with 6' water over the sill. All bridges are wider than 35'. Controlling vertical clearance is 32' at the Claude Allouez/WI32 Bridge at mile 7.3, but this may be reduced by two bridges for which vertical clearance data is unavailable.

(For comparison, most Mississippi locks are 110x600'; most modern barges are 35'x195' though 30'x120' barges do exist. The current locks on the Erie canal are 45'x328' with 12' of water over the sills)
