A cup of tea for you!
[edit]Hey there! I'm bummed to hear that there were problems resulting in you cutting the draft idea. I thought it was a pretty neat one. Creating an article is among one of the hardest tasks to do on Wikipedia; I barely made it through my first only when users were kind enough to help and I put a lot of work into my second one only for it to be declined and deleted. I was discouraged at the time and wanted to quit but some users cheered me on to keep going.
I'm telling you this just in case if you felt discouraged. I started guns blazing too but there was a lot that I needed to learn. I found the beset way to lean the ropes of this oddly complicated site was to start small and work closely with editors to ensure I was doing things right. My first project was Super Mario Bros. 35, and although the article is very small I worked on it excessively over two months and drained almost 200 edits into it. I also reached out a lot to Wikiproject video games for help. Speaking of, I wanted to welcome you to the Wikiproject video games community! It doesn't seem like a user directed you here but I'm glad you found your way. The video games Wikiproject is among the most active and has an incredibly welcome, helpful, and experienced editors who you'll probably see a lot of. In short, don't be afraid to reach out and take things slow while you learn the swing of things. We all were new at some point. Let me or the Wikiproject know if you need anything! - Also, a user pointed you to the list of reliable video games sources, which is an incredibly useful tool that Wikiprojects rarely have, so we're lucky users put that together. I'll one-up them, though, and point you to the video games custom search engine, which is Google but it shows only reliable sources. It's a lifesaver and I use it religiously. - Much obliged! The VS/SE page is a lifesaver, I bookmarked the page so I don't forget about it. Your words are very welcoming and kind, and appreciated. I am also bummed about the rejection of my first attempt at an article, but I created this account with the intention of improving the website. I am glad and excited to see so many competent users giving me feedback in such a short period of time, a refreshing change after my time on Scratch. I will continue to improve this site for a long period, maybe forever! (Well, as long as I can at least.) I hope our paths cross again! Welcome...again!
[edit]Hi UnexpectedSmoreInquisition, I've just dropped by to say hi. It's so nice to see new editors who stick around to make a difference. There are too few new editors who dive in and take note of policy and ask questions. I thought you might appreciate a note to say THANK YOU and I hope you stick around. - =D Greatly appreciated! This community has shown nothing but kindness, helpfulness and understanding to me since I joined just a couple days ago. I want to change this site for the better! I've seen hundreds of articles on this site throughout my years researching school projects, and finally decided to create an account where I was providing. Since you took the time to post this comment here, I'll let you know that I'm currently working on a draft for the Luxembourgian pastry fueskichelcher. Have you ever heard of/tried it? (The page is currently blank, planning to work on it over the next couple days.) UnexpectedSmoreInquisition (talk) 14:39, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- I hadn't heard of them...now I'm drooling lol. Anything doughnut related should be front page news if it was up to me. Knitsey (talk) 14:48, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- Are they the same as Verwurelter? I've had a quick look (emphasis on quick) and there are plenty of recipes but not a lot on the history. Knitsey (talk) 14:52, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- Taking a look, It seems you are correct, they share a similar recipe, and appear to be similar excluding the fact that fueskichelcher looks to be a non-twist variation of verwurelter. Luckily for me, NEITHER have an article. So, I assume I get naming rights to the article, and will link verwurelter. UnexpectedSmoreInquisition (talk) 15:00, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
