Hi everybody!
[edit]I first became interested in actually editing Wikipedia after hearing Jason Scott's critiques, The Great Failure of Wikipedia, A Criticism of Wikipedia Now Exceeding a Scream, and Swastikipedia.
I'm interested in observing first-hand several of the phenomena explored by Jason Scott. In particular, I'm interested in how positive attempts to create and maintain content are thwarted by mob rule and overt gamesmanship. My intention is to participate on a very limited basis for the purposes of curiosity. So far, my experiences largely confirm Jason Scott's analysis.
Some sensible advice
[edit]Don't get too wrapped up in Wikipedia. The mere fact that a page exists about "wikistress" on Meta is absolutely terrifying.
Do remember, that in the end, basically that we are all being used to aggrandize and line Jimbo's pockets.
Personal (internet) credo
[edit]Arguing on the internet is just like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded.
