History

[edit]

The Professional Boxing Career[4][3][2][1] (PBC) is the primary regulatory body for professional boxing in Pakistan. Established in 2017 by Abdul Rasheed Baloch[5], the PBC aims to provide a structured platform for Pakistani boxers to compete professionally within the country, eliminating the need for them to fight abroad. The organization's mission is to showcase the talent in Pakistan and elevate the sport to international standards.

The PBC collaborates with BoxRec[4], a leading global boxing record-keeping website, to sanction professional boxing bouts in Pakistan. Since its inception, the PBC has sanctioned numerous high-profile bouts, with several notable fighters recognized as PBC champions. The legitimacy of the PBC as a sanctioning body has been confirmed by BoxRec[4] and other international boxing organizations.

The organization underwent rebranding over the years. It initially started as the Pakistan Boxing Association (PBA), later changed to the Pakistan Professional Boxing Federation (PPBF), and then to the Pakistan Boxing Council[4][1][2]. In July 2024, Zaigham Rasheed Baloch became the new President of the PBC and rebranded it as Professional Boxing Career.[1][2][3][4]

Since 2017, the PBC has organized over 60 events throughout Pakistan, with more than 200 boxers recognized worldwide. The PBC has collaborated with prominent figures and organizations in the boxing world, including former world champion Amir Khan and his AK Promotion, Road Crew Media, and many more. These collaborations have helped put Pakistan on the global boxing map and showcase the talent of Pakistani boxers. This has been crucial in gaining international recognition for Pakistani boxers and elevating the sport within the country.
