Originally from Wechmar, a village in the German state of Thuringia, I went to school in Gotha, which is the county seat (or district capital) and also my birthplace, since that's where the hospital is.
Also visited Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio as a foreign exchange student with EF.
Scientific education (Diplom, i.e. MS in Human Biology) at the University of Marburg.
