[edit]ABOUT ME
[edit]I am a Running Start student that goes to Olympic College. I have many many hobbies that i love to do in my free time. one of these many hobbies include scuba diving, golfing, hiking, skiing, camping, and Search and Rescue. Scuba diving is one of my favorites because of how cool it is too explore underwater. I love to camp with my family all the time during the summer and winter. Hiking is one of the ways that you can reduce anxiety and depression.[1]
MY WIKIPEDIA INTERESTS
[edit]If I were to edit anything in Wikipedia i think i would edit a article about engineering. I would edit an engineering article because that is one of the subjects that interests me the most. Another article i would edit would be about skiing because it is one of my favorite things to do in the winter time.
Article Evaluation
[edit]Intro and thesis
[edit]When I am having trouble concentrating my first instinct is to put on music. For lots of people music is important for concentrating and working efficiently which is why I have chose to evaluate an article on Wikipedia named drummer. Assessing features is important to determining the credibility and effectiveness of sharing knowledge with the audience. My analysis evaluates the drummer article based on 3 features: the date in which it was made, the verifiability of the sources, and the neutrality of the entire article.
Publishing date
[edit]Often looking through Wikipedia you come across many articles that look legit because of their frequent updates to that article. while i was reading through this drummer article i noticed that most of the information is correct and sourced but can be updated. At the top of this article you can see a ribbon that reads "this article needs to be updated. (August 2011)." Another thing that could be updated in this post are pictures. it seems like most of the photos range from 1966-2011, I feel that the article could use more recent photos of drummers.
Verifiability
[edit]Reading through this article i notice that there are minimal sources in this article. While reading through the section named Military I spotted a couple of facts that seem correct but need to be cited. An example of this is "Military-based musical percussion traditions were not limited exclusively to the western world." This is just one of the facts that need to be cited. Overall there are 4 citation but the article has a lot more facts that need to be cited in order for it to have verifiability.
Neutrality
[edit]This drummer article has very great neutrality. the author of this article did not take a side but instead informed you about drummers. Overall i think the neutrality was the best part of this article showing all of the info with no opinion. There was no negatives to the neutrality and the article showed he could share information without opinion.
Conclusion
[edit]Overall I would say that this article was "fine." During my evaluation of this drummer article I have found that there is good information in this article. However this article needs more citations to determine its verifiability. I also noticed that the date last updated was back in august of 2011. I would say that this article needs to be updated with the information from present day. A positive about this article is that is was completely neutral. Overall i would say that as long as those two things are fixed this article will "great."
