Adolescent children who are bullied are linked to having suicidal thoughts (Bullying, Cyberbullying, and Suicide). Children ages 11-13are twice as likely to attempt suicide. People who have been harassed via the internet compared to those who haven't are becoming a public health problem. Some argue that law behind social media sites and cyber bullying have difficulties around monitoring and filtering contents of social media sites. Additionally, countries around the world are having problems creating boundaries for social media sites to help prevent suicide via cyberbullying.

To combat and disuade Cyberbullying, some states are making adjustments to legislature. If found guilty of Cyberbullying, some states such as California will hold the person committing the crime liable by charging fines or even jail time. [17] In one particular case in Florida, two preteens were arrested after they were accused of cyberbullying another female student. The victim killed herself by hanging herself in her closet with a dog leash. The investigators indicated that the suicide was prompted due to the cyberbullying perpetrated by the two girls. The girls were later charged with cyberstalking. [18]
