Wikipedia has keystroke combinations that can speed up your work, like alt-shift-f to "focus" on (jump to) the search box, alt-shift-m to move the current page and its talk page, alt-shift-t to open the current article's talk page, alt-shift-y to open a list of your user's contributions, and many more. Those are for Windows users. On the Mac OS, press control instead of alt. WP:K

  • new (to me) cool thing: {{like|username=Tvoz}} looks like 👍 Tvoz likes this.
  • good one from User: SMcCandlish - {{moved discussion to|1=location|2=reason - - ~~~~}} looks like
     – because it belongs there -- Tvoz/talk 17:16, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
    Also {{moved discussion from}}... and {{mdt}} or {{mdf}}
  • I don't do much category work, but when I do, this is a gem: To make category links work like normal links, add a colon after the opening brackets. Then "I think [[:Category:Living people]] would be appropriate", appears as "I think Category:Living people would be appropriate". (otherwise it disapppears from text and goes to the cats on the bottom of the page. Neat!
  • Another new thing, from User:Gareth Griffith-Jones: as an alternative to{{talkback}} use {{whisperback}} or {{wb}} - looks like
You have new message/s Hello. You have a new message at Tvoz's talk page.
  • {{checkmark}} looks like checkY

Fair use stuff

[edit]
  • fair use book rationale: [1]
  • fair use for album covers: [2] but with corrections needed as below

Fair use rationale

[edit]

It is contended that the use of this image in article name qualifies as fair use for the following reasons:

  1. This image illustrates the cover of the album discussed in the article. This image can be used for identification purposes in relation to this article.
  2. It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to market or sell the album in any way.
  3. The image is of lower resolution than the original cover.
  4. The image is being used in an informative way and does not detract from sales of thie album.
  5. No free or public domain images have been located for this cover.

Super watchlist

[edit]
Here's how I did it -
  • Put links to the pages you want on the special watchlist on their own page i.e. User:Xeno/subpages
  • Type the page name into Special:RecentChangesLinked
  • Bookmark or copy the address bar of the resultant page to create an external link with it.
Hope this helps! Thanks again, agathoclea. xenocidic (talk) 03:50, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
