Poetry Forum, Inc. began in 1972 to arrange poetry workshops in the Evanston, Ill., area,[1]. The Poetry Forum still hosts the workshops monthly, which it extended to central Illinois in 2002. The Illinois Arts Council awarded them grants for the work in 2008[2] and 2009.[3] In 1976, the nonprofit literary organization published the journal, RHINO Poetry, which stemmed from the workshops members' need for an outlet for their poems. The Poetry Forum was founded by Helen Degen Cohen (Halina Degenfisz), Suzanne Brabant, Lowell B. Komie, and Elizabeth Peterson.
