Early Life
[edit]Olamide Olubolakunmi Phillips (born April 3, 1978), often known by the mononym Lami, is a Nigerian Musician & UN Ambassador for peace. Lami was born in Chicago, Illinois and spend her early years in the US, before relocating to Nigeria. She went to high school in Queen's College in Lagos, Nigeria and later on continued her A-level education at the Roedean School in Brighton in East Sussex. She was first exposed to singing in plays at her various schools as a child, and went on to compete in her various school as she became an adult. However, Lami chose to go on to college to study Business Administration in the UK, and then pursue an Executive MBA at The Pennsylvania State University, USA.
Musical Career
[edit]In February 2010, Lami released her debut album, Intuition. The album featured other Nigerian artistes such as eLDee, MI and Ikon. Tracks on the album were produced by Ikon, MI, OJB, eLDee, and Lami. The album is a combination of soul music, pop, RnB, and a hint of soft rock. Her most notable singles from Intutition are Know, ere-ife, and Over.
Lami is currently working on her sophomore album and released two singles from this album May 2nd, 2011. The first single, Yago, is an up-tempo song, produced by DJ Klem. The second single, Ori Mi Wu, features Ice-Prince and is a slow love song.
