The Gloucester Banshees are a new British American football team based in Gloucester, England playing their home games at the Oxstalls Tennis Centre, Plock Court, Gloucester which is also the base for many other local sporting teams.

Overview

[edit]

The Banshees were formed during the winter of 2007/8 with a view to entering the British American Football League (BAFL) for the 2009 season. Players are drawn from a wide geographical area mainly Gloucester, Cheltenham, Hereford and The Forest of Dean[1]. The squad consists mainly of rookie players new to the game sprinkled with some vastly experienced Britball players such as Lee McPeake, Jason King and Shaun Griffin from past Gloucestershire based teams and one American, quarterback Derek Yenerall. The Banshees have just completed their associate season as part of the entry process in to the British American Football League (BAFL) and are hoping to be placed into the South West Conference of the British American Football League (BAFL) Division 2 for the 2009 season.
