Hector Uribe is a former Democratic member of the Texas Senate and a candidate for Texas Land Commissioner. Some of his largest legislative accomplishments are the Texas Enterprise Zone Act, designed to create new jobs in economically impacted areas, and the Protective Services for the Elderly Act which guards against elder abuse. He is also responsible for the establishment of the University of Texas Pan America.[1] He served in the Texas Legislature from 1978 to 1990 representing Brownsville and Texas Senate, District 27.
