I am a physician, specializing in bariatric surgery for the last 20 years and 2500 cases. I have also undergone the operation myself, and so I live with it and experience it personally.
I was an original developer of the Laparoscopic technique for Gastric Bypass Roux en-Y, and have published several articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, regarding that technique and its results. I have given presentations on the procedure, as invited faculty, at meetings in the United States and Europe. I am a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, and have taught the procedure to many other surgeons. I have held appointments as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed University of the Health Sciences, and at the University of California, San Diego.
I also have a lifelong interest in firearms and their history. I use Wikipedia to help pursue my outside interests in Arab History, Islamic History, History of Warfare, Philosophy, Photography, Anthropology, Archeology, Population Genetics, Geology, Cosmology, Astronomy, etc.
