I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Hull's School of Arts and New Media in Scarborough, since September 2010, after winning a scholarship. My research project focuses on strategies for nurturing online collaboration. I hold a Masters degree from the University of Sheffield on Literacy and Language in Education with a special focus on the role of interactive media in language teaching and learning.

Prior to this, I founded and ran a private interactive multimedia company, specialising in the design, development and publishing of edutainment computer games. Clients included the British High Commission, the British Council, the Maltese Education Department and other NGOs. I also won funding from the Leonardo da Vinci programme for my original interactive projects in life-long learning.

Current Research

[edit]

My current areas of research interests include; Online Collaboration, Communities of Practice and Mediated Memories. My current research project; ‘Preserving the Present – Cultivating On-line Collaboration to Preserve Personal Music Memories’, looks at how people collaborate in an online environment. The study aims to compare two online groups whose common interest is preserving music memories in Malta, however, they both use different platforms; FaceBook and MediaWiki.
