Description
[edit]Kappa are typically depicted as roughly humanoid in form, and about the size of a child. Their scaly, reptilian skin ranges in color from green to yellow or blue. Kappa supposedly inhabit the ponds and rivers of Japan and have various features to aid them in this environment, such as webbed hands and feet. They are generally described as possessing large eyes like a frog, yet having large duck-like beaks. Their diet tends toward the strange, and many tales involving Kappa tell of the creature in question stealing everything from farming equipment to """small children""" for a meal, leading to the phrase "hungry as a Kappa" in many rural areas of Japan.
