Week 2 Assignment: Critiquing an Article User:tomhoang18/sandbox/Week2Assignment Bioenergetics (Notes and Evaluation)
The article needs citations. There are barely any citations in the introduction. This would be a good article to contribute to since Bioenergetics is an important topic. The second paragraph of the Overview needs editing for clarity and organization. The paragraphs seem disconnected from each other. Missing a few comma and punctuations that could make things easier to read.
The Types of Reactions section can be expanded upon. The Cotransport section can be expanded to talk about how that is linked to bioenergetics. Several sections have very bold claim such as this and that discovery is the most important or major triumphs. The article feels incomplete and disorganized.
Metabolic pathway (Notes and Evaluation)
Clear and succinct introduction. Citation from Lehninger textbook. Could use an update from a newer edition. The first sentence of the second paragraph could be rewritten for clarity. Nice work linking the different examples of the metabolic pathways. The Introduction is well organized and written with plenty of good citations. The overview could use some citation.
This article has some very informative figures. It goes further enough into the subject to provide a good understanding without getting bogged down in the details. Each facet of metabolic pathways is followed up with examples. The Cellular respiration subsection should be clarified it is an example of catabolic respiration. Following the sources lead to reputable textbooks.
Week 2: Start thinking about what type of article you want to work on.
The Bioenergetics article would be a good one to work on. Could also start looking into different biochemists and talk about their research. Perhaps somebody local?
The biochemistry of Antibody could be a good topic. Nanobodies is a relatively new subject, but it already has a lengthy Wikipedia journal. In the Category:Metabolism, there are a few protein-specific articles that could be expanded upon. The protein Catastrophin, for example, has a one paragraph long article. There is an article on NovoGen that talks about a form of biological 3D printing. The article is one paragraph long and is vague regarding biological 3D printing technology.
