Effect on Education

An AI-based tutoring system, Education Dominance, was put into an entry-level IT school in Pensacola by the U.S. Navy. [1] This system relates to a human tutor in which the student's progress is monitored while providing individual assessments. According to the Navy, the students that worked with the digital tutoring system consistently performed better on the tests than did the students who did not use the digital tutor. The adaptive technology appears to affect students positively because it can assist individuals that have different learning skills than others and therefor better equipped to learn on their own. Technology programs that are already being used in education fields: Tablets, such as google chrome book, where students can access a range of google's educational software. DreamBox, Zearn, and ST Math, are math software programs that adapt to students as they learn.[2]

Article Evaluation - Science and Technology - Academic Article

In the Article, "Science and Technology" chosen from the academic disciplines category, there is quite a bit of information. However, it comes off as incredibly unorganized, unfocused, and feels as if numerous people were contributing to this one article without ever blending the ideas together. Instead, it reads more as if someone is adding additional information at the end of already thought out paragraphs without ever organizing them into the original ideas. This leads to quite a few odd jumps in timing especially when it comes to any sort of dates which is quite distracting as you attempt to navigate the information succinctly. Additional distractions include various mentions of books and resources that are never actually talked about beyond a line and once again don't add anything to the article beyond a clutter of dates and overall confusion. In mentioning confusion, I also want to say that in the article, very specifically the author adds -confusingly- which alters the reader's point of view quite a lot as their input changes the thought process. Speaking of altering the reader's point of view, the original author seems to focus on a heavily biased viewpoint in feminism by focusing on the exclusion of women. It is once again shown with words like claiming people in science and technology are dispassionate comparatively as well as bringing up the idea that the ideas of Science and Technology were at odds with the public's best interest without citing any real information about this thought process. In fact, it was noticed so much that when I clicked a link next to it, it led me to a Wikipedia article about "weasel words." Speaking of other people's input, there is a substantial amount of people in the talk page and on the article itself asking about citations, stating how citations are incorrect, and that the originally cited articles are incorrectly used or not valid sources of information.
