Thailand

In 1970, Thailand's government declared a population policy that would battle the country's rapid population growth rate. This policy set a 5-year goal to reduce Thailand's population growth rate from 3 percent to 2.5 percent through methods such as spreading family planning awareness to rural families, or integrating family planning activities into maternal and child healthcare education.^[1] Public figures such as Mechai Viravaidya helped spread family planning awareness through public speakings and charitable activities.
