The Lanyards Store
The Lanyards Store is an electronic commerce company that sells blank and printed lanyards and other identification products.
History
[edit]The Lanyards Store was founded in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1998 by David Lee. After establishing a warehouse and print facility, they created an online webstore in August, 2002. In September, 2009, The Lanyards Store became part of the Idea Express Group, which owns and manages several promotional product imprint companies and is headquartered in Nevada.
Million Lanyard Give
[edit]In 2009, The Lanyards Store began sponsoring a lanyard donation program in which they called the “Million Lanyard Give.” The object of the program was to donate one million lanyards to ministries, schools, youth camps, non-profit organizations to use during events, functions and community projects.[1] They also extended their offer to include animal shelters and rescue centers.[2] The donated lanyards were often blank, misprinted or overrun lanyards from previous orders.[2]
In 2011, the company stated that they were going to continue the program due to the ongoing requests.[3]
Trash-Free Warehouse
[edit]In 2010, The Lanyards Store announced that they had implemented a recycling program that allowed them to maintain a completely trash-free warehouse by using labeled waste containers[4]
Community Outreach
[edit]Sobergrads.org
[edit]In 2011, The Lanyards Store elected to sponsor Sobergrads.org, a site dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of underage drinking throughout high schools nationwide.[5] As a sponsor, The Lanyards Store offered to donate custom lanyards to schools that displayed high participation in the program[6]
Trap-Neuter-Release Program
[edit]During the summer of 2009, several staff members began to take care of a small colony of feral cats near the back of the company’s warehouse, and adopted a Trap-Neuter-Return program, wherein they trapped the cats, had them spayed or neutered, and released them back into the colony[7]
In 2011, The Lanyards Store constructed a small room in the back of the warehouse for the sole purpose of nurturing tame cats back to health before giving them up for adoption[7].
