Requests for reconfirmation is a process by which users can petition recallable administrators to undergo reconfirmation. It is entirely voluntary: only admins who have placed themselves in Category:Administrators open to recall may be petitioned, and the admin being petitioned decides whether or not to accept the request and stand for reconfirmation.

Purpose

Each administrator in Category:Administrators open to recall is prepared, under certain circumstances, to submit their adminship to the will of the community. The purpose of this page is to manage reconfirmation requests in a central location so that they can be monitored and evaluated to see if those circumstances are met. By hearing and responding to such requests, administrators demonstrate accountability to the community which granted them their tools.

Procedure

Before requesting reconfirmation, consider discussing your concerns directly with the admin, or requesting input from the community via Wikipedia:Requests for comment. If your concerns relate to a specific dispute, consider Wikipedia:Dispute Resolution.

To support an existing petition

Just add your reason for supporting it and sign your post. (Current petitions are shown below.) Remember that you are writing to persuade an administrator to voluntarily undergo reconfirmation. Your request is most likely to be accepted if you present your reasons calmly and cogently.

To start a new petition

1. Add the following code under Current petitions below, replacing "ExampleAdmin" with the admin's username. Save your edit.

Petitions end after seven days. The petitioned administrator is encouraged to add a closing comment explaining their decision to accept or reject the request. Closed petitions are listed here.
