Great Britain and Ireland are two neighbouring islands situated in the north-west of Europe. The United Kingdom and Ireland (or Republic of Ireland) are the two sovereign states on those islands.
As a phrase, Great Britain and Ireland, Britain and Ireland, United Kingdom and Ireland and UK & Ireland can refer either to the separate geographical or political entities being discussed together due to the close cultural and historical links between the islands, or to a single entity.
As separate entities, it may be referring to:
