User:This, that and the other/redirects

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Some redirects are useful. Others are not, and can in many cases be speedily deleted under R2 or sometimes G6.

Note: this is not a policy. It's my opinion only.

  • Redirects in the Education Program namespace are not technically possible.
  • There should be no redirects at all in the Module namespace. I also cannot see why there should be any redirects in the TimedText namespace.
  • The talk spaces of the aforementioned three namespaces should be treated like Book talk.

  1. ^ Article → Wikipedia: Specific CNRs for WP-specific terms (e.g. create an article, articles for deletion) and old history (e.g. rules to consider) only.

  5. ^ User talk → User talk: Subpages and alternate accounts/renamed users only.

  7. ^ Wikipedia → Wikipedia talk: Rarely needed, but there is no reason to forbid it.
  8. ^ Wikipedia → Template talk: Rarely needed, except perhaps for redirects to Template talk:Did you know, such as WP:DYKT. Should be avoided in other cases.
  9. ^ Wikipedia → Category: WP:CAT:CSD exists. Should be avoided.
  10. ^ Wikipedia talk → Article: Articles for Creation drafts only.
  11. ^ a b File → File, File talk → File talk: Only for files that have been moved. Even then, most orphaned file redirects can be deleted.
  12. ^ Category → Category: Regular redirects are not used in category space; the template {{category redirect}} is used.

  14. ^ Portal talk → Article talk: Redirects to Talk:Main Page only.
