Metropol Bakery is a European-style bakery and café producing artisan breads and desserts in Eugene, Oregon. The bakery's sales and dining room decorated with paintings and photos by local artists has become a cultural feature of the college community.[1]
History
[edit]Metropol Bakery began operations in 1975 at Eugene's Fifth Street Public Market. Café Metropol opened at the corner of Broadway and Pearl in 1981. Operations were consolidated at the present location in 1998. Walls behind the tables are typically decorated by about a dozen framed examples of the work of artists from the northwestern United States; and exhibits are periodically exchanged for other works from the collection of bakery owners Donna and George McGuinness.[2]
