Malcolm Ricardo-Anthony Martin (born May 6th, 2006) known professionally as coldheartedbrat is a American rapper, singer and songwriter from Colorado Springs, Colorado. He gained recognition upon the release of his single "Rockstar" which led to him signing a deal with Republic Records.
Early Life
[edit]Malcolm Ricardo-Anthony Martin was born on May 6th 2006, in Bridgetown, Barbados, to a Jamaican father and a Bajan Canadian mother. He lived in Saint Michael up until he was 3, when he moved to Toronto. He would later relocate to Denver, Colorado at the age of 6 after his father retired from the military. From a young age, Thompson had aspirations of being in the NFL as a child but after the death of his father in 2020 and what he claims had been "heartbreak", the year prior, he switched his intentions towards pursuing a career in music, starting with producing. He would later permanetely move to Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 15.
He attended Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs and would later go on to attend the University of Georgia. He cites his musical inspirations as Tyla Yaweh, Lil Tecca, Speaker Knockerz, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Mosey, Juice Wrld and Chief Keef. He has 9 siblings, one of which, his brother Justin, had been killed back in 2018.
Career
[edit]When he was 12, alwaysondnd had been given a copy of FL Studio for his laptop in which he began to make beats and sell them on a webstie called Beatstars which he made about 2,000 dollars from in 2019. During the Coronavirus pandemic, he began to try rapping duirng the quarantine that had been taking place in Colorado during them time. During early of 2020, his father had received the news that he had Lung cancer in which he had received treatment up until his unlikely death in July.
According to alwaysondnd, this and the breakup of a his girlfriend the prior December forced him into music entirely. He released his first song, purple sprite, which would gain decent traction, gaining 500 plays in the span of two weeks. He would later "Today" featuring fellow Soundcloud rapper Kidthatbreaks and it would go on recieve around 1,000 plays and would lead to him gaining some recognition in the soundcloud community. He had done most of this behind his mother's back. At the end, he would release his breakout singles "Rockstar" inspired by Tyla Yaweh and Post Malone's hit single Tommy Lee and Last Night. Rockstar would go on to recieve over 100,000 plays by January of the next year and Last Night would 50,000 by the same time. Both would lead to getting scouted by and signed to Republic Records.
