Welcome
[edit]Hello The Thadman/Talk Archive 1, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions on Aramaic primacy. I thought I'd introduce myself to you. I was the main author of the articles on the Aramaic language, Syriac language, the Aramaic of Jesus and various articles on modern Aramaic languages. You seem to be putting together a good article on Aramaic primacy. Even though I am a critic of the theory and the methods used by primacists, I would like to see a well-rounded article on primacy here at Wikipedia. Please talk to me about any of these subjects, or if you feel I'm being too critical. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- How to edit a page
- Editing tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

- שלמא עלך :–) תהנא אלא לא ידענא ללשן ארמית דכתבת . I'd guess that's a modern Assyrian dialect? I can't completely make out your romanization and my experience is primarily with written ancient forms of Aramaic, nothing useful in conversation. :-) --Steve Caruso 16:09, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
Greek in the Aramaic of Jesus
[edit]Just noted your comment on this. I imagine you're referring mainly to the readings that show ει rather than ι. These are as given in my new testament(British and Foreign Bible Society, Second Edition, 1958) and my "Pocket Lexicon of the New Testament" (Oxford, 1916) - but I'd be interested to see evidence to the contrary. By the way - I note you added your comments to my user page rather than the related talk page, whic would have been more usual, and would have alerted me to your comments more quickly! --rossb 00:10, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Steve, would you weigh in on the names of Jesus talk page? We're active again. --CTSWyneken 02:25, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

AfD on Primitive Yahwism
[edit]Are you aware of this: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Primitive Yahwism? The weak points as I see it are notability and verifiability. LambiamTalk 02:28, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Names of Jesus
[edit]Re: Talk:Jesus#Moving Detail on Name of Jesus to Subarticle
Steve, have you finished merging the details of the Jesus#Name section with the subarticles? If so, then I think we can implement Andrew c's proposal. Grigory Deepdelver of BrockenboringTalkTCF 11:43, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
RPG edit
[edit]Hi, thanks for your contributions to RPG-related articles. Just a minor note regarding your edit to the role-playing game article: per Wikipedia's external links guidelines, editors shouldn't add links to sites they own or maintain. Thanks and happy editing! --Muchness 09:26, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hehe I would think there would have been more controversy over section 10 of the guideline (although I'd insist it would be an exception as stated). Although I am the "owner" (if one can call it that, I just happened to create it) it is a collaborative work for the academic study of roleplaying (amongst other things). However, if it still is innapropriate, that's the beauty of Wikipedia's "history" function, and I apologize :-) אמר Steve Caruso (poll) 12:28, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
AMA request
[edit]This is an example section on a talk page where one would leave their AMA request. On your talk page you can be as detailed as you like! Back to the AMA.
Association of Members Advocates
[edit]Thanks for the offer of assistance. Alas, the AMA isn't in a particularly healthy state at the moment. I resigned as coordinator three weeks ago and no one has done so much as acknowledge my resignation. It needs a lot of care and attention, and I just don't have the time to make it work properly. Rebecca 14:59, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- Be my guest! Honestly, the main thing we need is a comprehensive guide of exactly what an advocate should and should not do. If I'd thought of it a few months ago I might have had the energy to make it happen, but it only really struck me the other day. Rebecca 15:12, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hi! I thought this was 'deju vu all over again, so I fiddled with it. // FrankB 18:15, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Question
[edit]Hey Steve Aeon here. I have a sneaking hunch that IB and UCRGrad might be the smae person. They have similar styles and seem to always post within a few minutes of each other. Is there anyway we can have a check user done on these two users? Aeon Insane Ward 21:28, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
A check user as already established that we are different ppl.Insert-Belltower 23:20, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Roger that thank you for clearing that up. Aeon Insane Ward 23:38, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
I think it has become a lost cause what ddo you think about having a request for commetn done on the UCR issue? Aeon Insane Ward 21:53, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Just a heads up Steve. I'm no longer I-B advocate, I would recomend that this issue be sent up to formal mediation, also UCRGrad is now say that my involvment in teh matter is going to antaginze him.....just to a heads up. Aeon Insane Ward 23:50, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- ((Edit conflict... twice :-) )) I honestly haven't suspected that (that they are the same person), but I'll see if I can get an IP check done. ((I guess that won't be necessary now :-) )) Unless things can be further articulated in a more productive manner, I'm going to have to agree with getting further comment. Also Aeon, please see to IB and make sure he's confident you're adovcating him. We are all working together on this, don't get me wrong, but if he's feeling uncomfortable about your positions I'd make sure to re-center things. ((And I see that this comment is also obsolete...)) Also, if you could drop me an email I'd be much oblidged. :-) אמר Steve Caruso (desk/poll) 23:54, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hey ya all,
- When I first engaged them I shared the same suspicion, but though their opinions are identical, their writing styles are different. They obviously know each other and may be aware of when the other is online via an IM service. They don't have to be operating from the same location. UCRG once did an interestingly bad ebonics impersonation in the form of his sockpuppet 909er, however i don't think IB is another impersonation of his. In any case, the current survey results seems to suggest they are not using sockpuppets now.
- My question now, for me, is what course of action do you both recommend? I'm fully willing to take whatever further DR steps you 2 advise. Thanks--Amerique 00:30, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I would say RfC followed by request for mediation Aeon Insane Ward 00:43, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed and agreed. That course of action appears to be the best from my vantage. אמר Steve Caruso (desk/poll) 00:52, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Hey should I file this under Article or User Concduct? Aeon Insane Ward 01:11, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Not a prob! Thank you for the Barnstar. Aeon Insane Ward 01:30, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Hi, Steve. Even though it was unfortunate that not much progress was made, I just wanted to swing by and thank you for taking the time to attempt to help resolve the dispute between the editors working on the UCR article. --WHS 06:46, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Nomed for Coordinator

The IB/UCRGrad issue
[edit]I'm leaving those to alone. There opinions meen nothing to me. (Which is what I posted) I dought the issues they have with me will stop, but I'm going to ignore them, why bother getting into it with them when I can be doing other things. Aeon Insane Ward 01:33, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
No, no one has taken on my request yet. - CobaltBlueTony 12:54, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
I will take it, although it may not be until tomorrow that I can respond,Benon 14:52, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm asking you and Aiden (talk · contribs) to stop edit warring immediately. I won't ask again. --Tony Sidaway 04:01, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- I've posted my peace on Talk:Jesus#WP:3RR warning and rest assured no further reversions will come from my end, period. Additionally, under Talk:Jesus#RfC Aiden and I have possibly reached a compromise over the whole issue, which will allow this dispute to finally end peacefully. :-) אמר Steve Caruso (desk/poll) 12:17, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Just a heads up
[edit]Hey Steve. I'm resigning from the AMA. I became a member of the Mediation Cabal and think for the time being to leave the AMA. I will return later the in year I just feel that doing informal Mediation woud be a better fit for me lol. It was fun. I will still be helping Amerique et. all with there RfC, Don't Worry. Thanks for everything. Aeon Insane Ward 04:05, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- All is well Aeon. It was a pleasure to have you on board. Good luck with the Mediation Cabal! :-) אמר Steve Caruso (desk/poll) 12:59, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- LOL thanks, Amerique has written one hell of an RfC on UCRGrad, I have never seen such a list before. Aeon Insane Ward 13:01, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
