BC Studies (full name BC Studies: The British Columbian Quarterly) is an interdisciplinary periodical publishing articles regarding the Canadian province of British Columbia. Founded in 1969, it has published 173 issues as of 2012. Its offices are at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

Idea originated at UBC between Margaret Drang and Walter Young, history and PoliSci professors. First co-editors

Take up the place of moribund British Columbia Historical Quarterly (1937-1958)

Publish BC-related writing by academics and grad students

Office space and staff provided by UBC Publications Centre, later UBC press

First issue Winter 1968-69

Money provided by UBC Alumni Association and the Koerner Foundation, UBC and SFU, Canada Council, UVIC, British Columbia Cultural Fund (later the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada)

Began thematic “special issues” in 1970, with an archaeology issue.

Format: Three or four articles, book reviews, bibliography, occasionally a single, long article with related book reviews

Bibiolography popular with librarians and students
