Content
[edit]Sketched Shenanigans consists of 31 Sketches, mostly written by Toby Arrowsmith and Jack Bilsborough; despite being credited as one, Christopher Kershaw didn't write any of the sketches, although he did write his own solo sketch but that got removed.
Opening titles
[edit]Not listed as a sketch itself, the film opens with the iconic BBC spinning globe, an ident used back in 1960s-70s. A BBC Announcer announces that the following program has been rejected for theatrical release, but the BBC decided to show the program "as a last resort".
Sketches
[edit]Each sketch are listed in order they are on screen:
- Court, 2024 (Part 1): In a court case, the defendant named Tobias (Toby Arrowsmith) is supposedly guilty of murdering 20 Puerto Ricans in Liberia and The Judge (Jack Bilsborough) instantly convicts them Guilty even though evidence has come in that he is innocent. However, it is actually revealed that the judge himself committed the crime and is trying to get the case dismissed before being dragged out by a British sheriff called Officer Harper Junior (Christopher Kershaw). At the end, it shows a picture of Harper with the text "In Memory of Officer Harper" who died "choking on a teabag".
- An Office Block, 2020: In the middle of the COVID-19 outbreak, this specific office place doesn't close for lockdown so a majority of the workers have to come in. A worker called Phillip (Toby Arrowsmith) is extremely germophobic and levitates so he doesn't have to touch the ground. This causes a row between his co-workers, Joe (Jack Bilsborough) and Dan (Christopher Kershaw), as it makes their jobs harder.
- Dad's Life Support, 2024: Officer Harper (Christopher Kershaw) is on his deathbed in a hospital, choking on a teabag, with his Doctor (Jack Bilsborough) and his son, Harper Junior, Jr. (Toby Arrowsmith). He is currently hooked up to a life support machine which makes his condition more stable. Though, during the discussion with the doctor, the son interrupts as he has to plug in his computer and asks if there is anywhere to plug it in. The doctor says no, as it is all for medical equipment, but the son spots a plug where his grandads life support is plugged and unplugs it, killing his dad, with the excuse being that he has to go live on Twitch to harvest sympathy followers. The doctor goes ballistic.
- Weather Report, 2012: The Anchor-man (Toby Arrowsmith) switches the segment over to the Forecast Guy (Jack Bilsborough). This weather report seems normal until the weather forecast changes into death defying natural disasters that will result in the end of the world. It also shows a map of an area of the UK which gets completely wiped except for Birmingham. During the sketch, the weatherman seems to develop some sort of dementia. This sketch being an obvious reference to the 2012 phenomenon where supposedly, Mayans “predicted” the end of the world.
- Its A Me Spectre (Directors Cut), 2022: James Bond (Jack Bilsborough) comes across his old foe, M.A.R.I.O (Toby Arrowsmith). However, Bond has severe dementia and doesn't remember who M.A.R.I.O is. M.A.R.I.O then tries to help him get his memory back by showing him Its A Me Spectre (on a very old TV) but then gives up. At the end, it then cuts back to the TV where it displays the text "The End, For Now..." until it abruptly cuts off, ending the sketch. (Its A Me Spectre was the first JAT film to be filmed entirely in Garry's Mod, which can be seen playing on the tv during the sketch).
- Burger King, 2023: A Customer (Jack Bilsborough) comes into a Burger King and tries to order something but the BK Worker (Christopher Kershaw) tries to gaslight him and starts an argument.
- Minecraft IRL, 2023: A group of friends, consisting of Steve (Christopher Kershaw), Jake (Toby Arrowsmith) and Jim (Jack Bilsborough), live in a house together and Steve is delusional and thinks Minecraft is real. He punches the walls saying he needs resources and shoots Jake with a bow and arrow for loot. Then he tries to do a water-bucket trick shot off the balcony off the apartment and dies.
- Court, 2024 (Part 2): A continuation from Sketch 1, The Judge (Christopher Kershaw) and the defendant Axel (Toby Arrowsmith) go head to head but this time it's different. Axel pleads guilty to defecating on a group of handicapped minors in public, he just says yes to everything but very goofily because it is later found out he is doing Class A Drugs of which the Judge has no idea. The Judge does not believe him to be guilty because it is so bizarre. Axel is then released of all charges.

Production
[edit]The earliest this film was announced was on September 16th, 2023, when Jack Bilsborough, the director of the film, announced in a now deleted tweet that he and Toby Arrowsmith, the producer, were working on a new film project, without going into specifics. JAT Productions later quote tweeted, saying "This film appears to be rather sketchy".[2]
On October 15th, 2023, the title of the film, Sketched Shenanigans, was announced with a tongue-in-cheek bio saying "The Movie where you think it's legal to watch but you realise that after watching, you'll need to seek a therapist. Yes, I know this bio doesn't make sense but neither does the movie!".[3]
Out of the 31 sketches originally written for this film, only 29 made it in the film while 2 sketches had to be rewritten.
Novelisation
[edit]Sketched Shenanigans
[edit]The film was adapted into a book format with the sketches being rewritten to suit a novelisation format. This is the first JAT Publication of a novelisation of one of its films.
