Special Ed is the afternoon drive personality at 99.9 Virgin Radio (CKFM) in Toronto, ON. He airs phone calls, engages listeners in contests, and hosts live events or remote broadcasts. A position that he has held since October of 2010[1], when he exited 101.3 The BOUNCE in Halifax, NS.
He is mostly known for his various positions held at KDWB Minneapolis/St Paul, where he began as a board op for The Party Zone, moving on to host overnights, late nights, middays, and regularly fill in evenings. In that period of time, he also held positions at Wild 100.3 in Dallas, TX and Mix 108 in Duluth, MN.
Special Ed is a self described Jack of All Trades, often taking pride in the second part time and full time jobs to support his early radio career. Holding positions at Lids, car dealerships, liquor stores, and even toy stores. His love for being an on mic personality came from a job at a roller rink in high school, a place in which many of his peers moved on to broadcasting careers.
Special Ed attended Broadcasting School at Mt Hood Community College in Gresham, OR. He attributes swift success to trade related education like ProTools, and Selector. He has yet to complete his courses.
Despite many complaints over the years, Special Ed has retained the name as a testament to overcoming a childhood of behavioral and special education classes. It has never been intended as a mockery of people with special needs or disabilities.
