Chimes Aviation Academy (CAA), a division of Chimes Aviation Private Limited, is promoted by the Chimes Group and has its registered office in New Delhi. CAA is India’s premier, fully integrated Aviation Training Academy. CAA is driving a culture of excellence in all facets of aviation training. CAA offers DGCA approved, courses, which are supported with Single and Multi engine aircraft, the Garmin 1000 glass cockpit, IT enabled Ground School, an advanced simulator and a large hangar built to global standards. All programs are completed conducted in-house at the Academy. Current training curriculum includes full time courses like Commercial Pilots License with Instrument Rating & Multi Engine Training (CPL- IR/ME) and Private Pilots License. CAA also conducts short term customized courses like Multi Engine rating, Instrument Rating, License Endorsement and building flying hours for CPL and PPL, under the 'Chimes Flying Programme'. These courses are available around the year.


History

Launched in April 2008 at Dhana (District Sagar) MP, CAA has been established with a capacity to train 120 CPLs (Commercial Pilot License) per year. Strategically based at Dhana (Sagar), CAA enjoys almost 320 days of clear weather thereby allowing maximum flying.

Fleet

All NEW Cessna 172R Single engine aircraft: CAA has the largest and latest fleet of new Cessna 172R aircraft with GARMIN 1000 Glass Cockpit. The new aircraft with CAA ensure lesser downtime and continuous availability to complete all courses according to the published time & quality schedule. TWIN (Multi) engine aircraft: CAA is also amongst the very few aviation training academies in India providing Multi engine rating on Piper Seneca PA-34, as integral part of the Commercial Pilots License.

Flying Training Courses

CPL (IR/ME)

It is the primary professional pilot’s integrated course conducted at CAA which enables a CPL holder to be eligible to secure a job in an airline/general aviation sector or become a flying instructor. CAA follows a rigorous evaluation & selection process for student screening and induction. Strict adherence to quality & ethics ensures commitment of delivering excellence within the defined timelines i.e. CPL course completion in a period of one year. CPL Course Curriculum details:

  • Single Engine: 190 Hrs on Single Engine CESSNA-172 aircraft with Garmin-1000.
  • Multi Engine: 10 Hrs on Multi Engine Piper Seneca aircraft.
  • Flight Simulator: 20 Hrs on Flight Simulator.
  • Ground Studies: 500 Hours.
  • DGCA Examination: SPL (Oral) + PPL (written) + CPL (written).

PPL

This course is ideally suited for aviation enthusiasts and hobby fliers who may wish to rent an aircraft and for those who own a personal aircraft.

Cruiser

Cruiser enables one to pursue flying with a convenient, personalized over-the-weekend schedule. The schedule is designed to make the aviation enthusiasts a Private Pilot License (PPL) holder in just nine weekends.

Instructors Rating (Assistant Flying Instructor (AFI) and Flying Instructor (FI) Rating)

If one wishes to choose a career as a flying Instructor, CAA provides the requisite DGCA approved flying training. In addition to flying training, the course curriculum for AFI and FI Rating includes theory classes on Instructional technique, communication, human aspects concerning flying training and the art of conducting lectures and briefings. CAA prepares the CPL holders undertaking this course to clear the requisite oral examination conducted by DGCA to obtain this rating.

License Renewal

This course is for people who already hold a PPL or CPL or CPL/IR license in India and which is due for renewal. This course offers a comprehensive integrated program for license renewal of PPL, CPL and instrument rating on single and multi engine aircraft. If anyone’s flying license has lapsed CAA provides the necessary refresher course and additional flying prior to conducting tests for the license renewal.

License Conversion

This course is for pilots who already hold a valid CPL or CPL/IR license from other countries and want their license to be converted for a valid Indian CPL license. .

Flying Programme (Chimes Flying Program (CFP)- hours building towards PPL & CPL/IR)

This course is specially designed for those candidates who have obtained a Student Pilots License (SPL) or a Private Pilots License (PPL), but are unable to complete the flying hours required for a Commercial Pilots License (CPL). The CFP course at CAA caters both for multi-engine and single engine flying.

Multi Engine (TR/IR) (Multi Engine -Type rating & Instrument Rating (ME-TR/IR) Course)

While this is part of the CAA CPL course curriculum, anyone desirous can also undertake this course separately.


Ground School & Academic Faculty (Ground Instructors)

Ground training at CAA is conducted in IT-enabled classrooms equipped with Wireless Area Network and LCD projectors. It is backed by high quality course material consisting of latest CD-ROMs and a well-stocked library.

CAA's team of ground instructors are considered iconic in the Indian aviation domain with many years of rich experience providing realistic insight in the curriculum they deliver. Each staff member is evaluated and selected to ensure that the students receive personal attention and training. CAA ensures a comprehensive course delivery, as approved by the DGCA. The Ground Training curriculum is structured for 500 hours of lectures.


Simulator

CAA has an advanced Simulator with the Glass Cockpit and a 120-degree field of view. Simulator training forms a vital part of aviation training and is offered as an integral part of the PPL and CPL courses.

Aircraft Maintenance

CAA has a fully equipped maintenance facility with the requisite tools and test equipment, setup in a modern 11,000 sq ft hangar at the Academy. This along with the staff of highly qualified engineers and skilled technicians provide the capability to conduct all servicing and maintenance schedules required for safe and efficient operation of the fleet of aircraft. Software monitored large inventory of spares ensures minimum down time on the aircraft.
