Cornwall

[edit]

Ben grew up in Cornwall, UK living in Launceston for the first 11 years of his life where he attend St Catherines primary school. He started to learn the acoustic guitar at age 8, walking to his lessons twice weekly for the next three years.

At 11 his parents relocated to Wadebridge, which co-insided with his move to secondary school. Ben took up the electric guitar once settled at Wadebridge Comprehensive. This was later replaced with the Bass Guitar at 14. During this time Ben took time to skateboard and surf. His interest in punk-rock grew from the mainstream rock to less comericial areas after recieving '...and out come the wolves' by Rancid on his 15th Birthday. It was around this time that ben joined his first band originally called solaris, but later changed to cutouts. He later played with Headrush and several other musicians from the area. These bands were mostly covers bands with little original material writeen. Covers ranged from Greenday and Blink-182 to Metallica and Nirvana.

Ben continued at Wadebridge school for his A-levels, where he took Maths, Physics, Drama and D&T, sucessfully passing all subjects. He joined more proffesional outfit Sin City at this time, a band that played heavier material and started to write their own material. Classic rock and metal covers were played, with a suitable attitude towards life. Around his 17th birthday Ben gave up drinking, and soon after dedicated himself to straight edge. Ben remains straight edge to this day with no intention of breaking his oath.

Birmingham

[edit]

Ben moved to Birmingham in 2004 to study Electronic Engineering at Aston university. It is here that he met the other members of Allucinere, the band continued well for two years, despite Ben leaving university. Allucinere record several rough demos, before recording the Six Days EP, named as a parody of the creation of Earth, and because of the two three day sessions used to record. Including 6 full tracks plus 3 bonus tracks, the EP was never properly released.

With the other members leaving to do placement years the band was put in hiatus. Ben joined local gimmick band Leg-end X who continued on in a similar way to Allucinere. In his first two years in Birmingham Ben also played with ROFLcopter (ska-punk covers) the Tie-Dye Quartet (Jazz ensemble) Fulbright (pop-rock originals) Babagou and Friends (psychadelic prog rock) and several other groups and with many musicians. Ben organised a final gig for Leg-End X as two members were leaving, this was the first sell out gig held at the Sound Bar in Birmingham

Ben started at BCU studying Music Technology in 2006, still looking for more musicians to play with. Once the other members returned the band stuggled to replace drummer Olaf who had returned to Indonesia. The band continued but never managed to return to full form. Ben joined At The Waters Edge during this time, finding the band to be more motivated and therefore more fun to play with. Ben worked as a booking agent for both bands, securing support slots for both groups at the Birmingham barfly with Fei Comodo and Bury Tomorrow. Although there was some tension both bands were happy with the gig.

This lead to Ben starting promotions company Vs. (formerly Versus Vs. Verses) and hosting bands at local pub Scruffy Murphys. This gigs were well attended and achieved their aim of providing a good show, and a fair deal for bands. While the company made no money, all bands were fully paid and ticket costs were kept low, meaning a larger audience. After three shows it was confirmed that I Have Clones would be going on tour in summer. I Have Clones being the solo project of Allucinere Keyboard player Rob Moore, but in need of a touring bassist and vocalist. Ben took this place and completed the 18 date tour around the uk. This meant leaving At The Waters Edge, and that Allucinere was disbanded.

London

[edit]

By this time his job at the IFPI in London had been confirmed. After the tour had completed Ben moved to Tottenham, North East London where he currently resides

While still officially playing with I Have Clones, ben is looking to join a new band.

Ben is hoping that At The Waters Edge will not find a new bassist in the next year, so he can re-join on his return to bimringham.
