Hello,
My name is Teresana.
Welcome to my page.
'Music background and outlook'
[edit]I have been performing as a singer since age eight. Although I was very young, I knew that music was something that would be important to me forever. I was involved with a children’s choir and took private vocal lessons throughout grade school and into high school. In my private vocal lessons, I studied many arias, operas, and art songs. I was focused and determined to become an opera singer. I had competed in several competitions, learned to sing in six languages, and engulfed myself in the beauty of the art form that is opera. Furthering my musical knowledge, I enrolled in classical piano lessons at the age of ten. My piano lessons helped me gain a better understanding for the fundamentals of music theory and what it meant to assign a specific harmony or function to a chord.
I attended the Chicago Academy for the Arts. At Chicago Academy for the Arts, I studied ear training, classical and jazz theory, music history, and more. Each year, my knowledge for music and its counterparts grew exponential amounts. My four years were filled with shows, rehearsals, and performances around Chicago with my fellow peers. While I was still incredibly focused on pursing a career in classical music, I began to discover my love for jazz during high school. I began taking jazz vocal lessons, learning these American jazz standards, and chose to shift my focus to the jazz art form. I began performing with jazz combos, competing in improvisational competitions, and dove into a genre had already had its shining hour in earlier times during the1920s-1950s.
I decided to apply and then attend Berklee College of Music in order to keep cultivating my education in music. In my first few years of college, I was adual major in performance and music business. I performed with several ensembles, both jazz and even R&B. Over the course my studies at Berklee, I came to the decision to study music business and purse performing on my own time. I currently study as a music business major with a track in marketing. While I still have an immense appreciation for jazz music, and I still do sing it and listen to it quite often, I am discovering other genres of music that are interesting to me and that I would like to start singing. As the idea of music’s future as a whole is currently evolving and changing, my future as a performer and lover of music continues to change as well.
My music
[edit]My musical genre is one that I am still discovering. I think a current, working definition of my musical genre would be electronic pop that is heavily influenced by the sounds and elements of both jazz and R&B. The customary instruments in my current music are made up of various synths. Some are piano synths, as well as acoustic piano, bass synths, electronic drum synths, and my vocals. The singing style is one that is filled with emotion and has many elements of my jazz and R&B background. While the music I am currently creating tends to target a younger audience, I hope that my music can and will inspire people of any age. My mode of dissemination and sharing my music is through the Internet.
On this page I plan to write about an opera called "Death and Powers".
