History

RPG Gateway was founded in [[1996]] by James Mathe of the [[RPG host|RPG Host network]], and subsequently taken over by Effie Rover of the RPG Nexxus site network in [[1999]]. Since then, it has grown to around 5,000 sites. It has never changed its basic format - that of a categorized directory of site listings.

In the early [[2000's]], the site added Official designations to differentiate fan sites from designated official sites, and a Top 100 list tied to incoming votes, outgoing links and user ratings. A [[web forum]] followed, offering advice for RPG [[webmasters]] on site improvements.

Editors

RPG Gateway relies on a staff of [[volunteer]] [[editor]]s who may change from time to time. However, a core group of editors (called Senior Editors on the site) have remained since the [[1990's]].
