Halil Tekiner, Pharm BS, born to pharmacist parents on June 14, 1983 in Kayseri, Turkey, graduated from the Ankara University Faculty of Pharmacy in 2004 and is currently the owner of Yogunburc Pharmacy (Kayseri).
As a result of his work at the Budapest Semmelweis University Pharmaceutical Technology Laboratory (Hungary) in 2002 and the North Carolina University Molecular Modeling Laboratory (USA) in 2003, he was awarded the National Pharmacy Encouragement Award in 2004.
Tekiner, who has served as a correspondent with TUBITAK (the Scientific & Technological Research Council of Turkey) for many years, has also served as Ankara University Faculty of Pharmacy Student Representative (2001-2002), Ankara University Student Council President (2002), and an Executive Member of the European Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (2003). He is an active member of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), the FIP Young Pharmacist’s Group and the British Society for the History of Pharmacy (BSHP).
In addition to his native Turkish, Tekiner speaks fluent English and knows French and Ottoman Turkish. He is the author of Kayseri Eczacilik Tarihi (A History of Pharmacy in Kayseri, Türk Eczacıları Birliği, 2005).
Halil Tekiner is also interested in music, having studied composition for many years. His musical works are published in 4 volumes: Erciyes (2000), 12 Preludes for Piano (2001), Variations on a Turkish Folk Song (Canakkale Turkusu)(2002), Variations on a Hungarian Folk Song (Ne Higyjél A Cigánynak)(2003).
