von Götz Baron/Baroness von Götz-alt spelling Goetz-von Götz family originating in Prussia and Pomerania (Germany) dates back to the granting of the barony to Götz by King Albrecht I during his reign of 1255-1308.
Götz family members were loyal monarchists and were therefore granted the right to display the arms beginning in 1298. The arms depict a father and son, each with arrows grasped in the left hand. The red shield is beset with helmet and crown, signifying loyalty to the crown.
Leopold von Götz, Baron or Freiherr, fought the Swedes on German soil during the 30 Years war of 1618-1648. Family members remained loyal to the Hohenzollern dynasty, namely Kaiser Wilhelm II until his abdication from the throne in 1918.
