Elizabeth Hannah Is an American writer best known for being the daughter of Weigh Down Workshop & Remnant Fellowship Church founder, Gwen Shamblin Lara.[3][4] Hannah is the current leader of the church as the successor of her mother after her death in May 2021.[5]

Early life

Hannah was born Elizabeth Michelle Shamblin on December 23, 1981 in Memphis, Tennessee to American author and dietitian, Gwen Shamblin (née Henley; 1955–2021)[6][7] and investor & trader, David Shamblin (1954–2023).[8][9] She has an older brother named Michael Shamblin (b. 1980) who is a musician and YouTuber.[10][11]

Hannah was a participating member of her mother's church movement since it's formation in 1999 and was along with her brother in charge of numerous youth and adult groups within the church.[12][13]

After her mother, step father, and husband's death on May 29, 2021, Hannah and her older brother Michael stated in June 2021 that they will both continue to lead Remnant Fellowship and continue their mother's legacy.[14][15]

Beginning during the "Feast of Tabernacles"[b] event in September 2021, Hannah stepped back from public appearances and began to call-in to church services and prerecord sermons.[16]

In November 2021, six months after her mother, husband, and step-father's death, Hannah's brother Michael announced that he would be leaving Remnant Fellowship and he and his wife Erin were filing for divorce resulting in Hannah becoming the church's sole leader.[17][18][19]

In December 2021, Hannah began the "Give Love Project" which involves many volunteers from the church that help out at the Nashville Rescue Mission and the Franklin Fire Department with a partnership from Crumbl Cookies.[20][21][22]

Hannah stated February 2024 that she was ready to "continue her mother's legacy" and "Take the church to the next level.[23]

Beginning at the "Feast of Tabernacles" event on October 31, 2024, Hannah began appearing publicly at the church for the first time since September 2021.[24]

Hannah has stated that she is in the process of writing a book about her mother.[25]

Personal life

Hannah married her husband Brandon Hannah on April 19, 2003 in a private ceremony at her mother's historic mansion entitled Ashlawn.[26] They lived in Brentwood, Tennessee with their three daughters and two sons.[27][28]

On April 13, 2012, Hannah's first born son died of SIDS at just under 5 months old.[29]

Hannah's husband was the founder of self named real estate company entitled Brandon Hannah Properties located in Franklin, Tennessee.[30][31]

Actor and musician, Joe Lara became her step-father after he married her mother on August 18, 2018 in a Remnant Fellowship Church wedding ceremony.[32][33][34]

The couple were members of Remnant Fellowship Church together along with their children up until Brandon's death due to a plane crash in May 2021 that also killed Hannah's mother, stepfather, and four other leaders of the church.[35][36][37]

Hannah's brother has stated in a May 2024 Youtube video that she possibly suffers from an eating disorder.[38]
