The Damon Runyon Theater is an American old-time radio anthology series . It was syndicated via electrical transcription beginning in 1948 and continuing "well into the mid-1950s".^[1]

Format

The Damon Runyon Theater aired 30-minute adaptations of short stories written by Damon Runyon. Each week, a character named "Broadway" ("a hood with a heart of gold")^[2] introduced a new episode and narrated it as the story progressed.^[3]

Personnel

Actors frequently heard in episodes included Alan Reed, Gerald Mohr, Frank Lovejoy, Sheldon Leonard, William Conrad, Jeff Chandler, Lionel Stander, and Sidney Miller.^[3]

The producer was Vern Carstensen, and the director was Richard Sanville.^[4]

Production

The program was produced by actor Alan Ladd's Mayfair Transcription Company.^[3]
