Early life and education
[edit]She completed a master's degree with a thesis, "An Analysis of the Achievement of Two Mentally Retarded Children in a Perceptual-Motor Development Program".[1]
Academic career
[edit]Her first book, coauthored with Ann P. Turnbull, Mainstreaming Handicapped Students was a landmark work in the field of special education. It was first published in 1979 with a second edition in 1984. It was renamed Mainstreaming Exceptional Students and a third coauthor, C. Dale Carpenter, was added for third and fourth editions in 1991 and 1995.
