I was born on November 11th, 1989 at Ball Hospital in Muncie, IN to my parents, David and Shannon Sloan. I lived in Muncie for a couple of years, until about when I was 3. At this point in time, my parents had started to have problems, and after my third birthday, my grandparents, who live in Darlington (which is where I live now) took me in while my parents worked out a divorce. My grandparents took care of me and showed me love that there is no way I could repay. When i was there, I went to preschool at Guiding Light Academy, which is where I met a couple of people with whom I am friends today; Cary Gephart and Chandler Jones.
After it was all settled, I moved back to Muncie to stay with my mom. For a little over a year and a half we lived in some of the worst parts of Muncie and Anderson. It was during this time that a lot of things happened that I wish I could erase from my memory. If you ever want to know, I'll tell you about it. Soon after my fourth birthday we moved to a duplex in Cowan, Indiana, not far from where my dad lived, and not far from Muncie. I went for a year to kindergarten at Cowan Elementary School. Shortly after that year I moved with my mom to a new house in Darlington, so that I could be close to my grandparents and have a better life than what I would in Muncie.
During my elementary school years a lot of things happened in my life. My mom got remarried to Mitch Harmon, giving me two older stepsisters, who--believe it or not--were always nice to me when i was younger. I began to be fascinated with music and computers when i was about eight. But elementary school was also a transition time for me. Before my fourth grade year, I never really understood my faith. I just thought it was a waste of time and something that old people created to control young people.
That summer though, my mom and grandma talked me into going to Quaker Haven Church Camp in Northern Indiana. That one week changed my entire outlook on faith, and the next year I dedicated myself to following Christ. I continue to go there every chance I get, and even counsel camps for kids that are the age I was when I accepted Christ.
During my years in Middle School the major thing that happened to me was Choir. I kinda joined it just to get away from taking home-economics in 7th grade, but I am extremely glad I did. I have been in choir every year since then. I made it into advanced choir and varsity ensemble my freshman year, and since then have accumulated a good-size box of regional solo-ensemble medals, a choir letter and three chevrons, and a good spot in several ensembles at my school.
Currently I am a Junior at North Montgomery High School in Crawfordsville, Indiana. I go to Gravely Run Friends Church, where I teach the occasional sunday-school lesson, in hopes of one day becoming a doctor of theology and pastor. My personal hobby is music. I play many instruments, and I sing in choirs.
