When TSA was established by ATSA in the Department of Transportation, the position was referred to as the Under Secretary of Transportation for Security. Following TSA's transfer to the Department of Homeland Security, the position was reclassified as the Administrator of Transportation Security Administration.
There have been six administrators and several acting administrators in TSA's history.
