Charlie The Pigeon (Cover Band)

Charlie The Pigeon, also known as CTP" or simply "Charlie" was founded in 1995 in Eugene, Oregon. By TJ and Conan. Initially formed was to be an original band, but soon turned into a cover band. Thru mutual friends they met Adam, James and Jeremy to fill out the band.

Played their first show in Portland, Oregon in November of 1995. Still struggling to find a name, the band was walking to breakfast. Conan randomly kicked a pigeon for no reason. It flew off around the corner. We they came around the corner there was about one hundred pigeons on the ground. TJ commented the "Charlie brought friends." This the unusual name was adopted.

Career:

Between 1995 and 2002 CTP played close to five hundred shows all over Oregon and into Washington. In 1999 from May to September they stayed in Seattle, playing two to four times a week.

Over the years their cover catalogue grew to over two hundred songs. Although the set list changed regularly, no matter what the band closed every show with a cover of Golden Earring's "Twilight Zone". It was the first song Charlie had learned to play together.

Disbandment:

Charlie The Pigeon was ended in May of 2002. When co-founder Conan was arrested and charged with 15 counts of SA on his daughters ages 4 and 12. The rest of the members decided to disband as opposed to finding a new bassist. While everyone else joined other local bands. TJ stopped singing due to his wife being pregnant with their first child.

Conan was sentenced to fifteen years in prison, and no one from the band has had contact with him since his arrest.
